To download the LSX Teams Extension, follow one of the following steps:

  1. You can also download and install the extension directly from the backend of your website
  • Login to the backend of your website
  • Hover over the “Appearance” menu item and select the “LSX” sub-menu item
  • You will notice a list of the current LSX extensions under the “Enhance LSX”
  • Select the extension labelled “LSX Team”
  • You will be redirected to our website where you can purchase and download the plugin

Install

  • Navigate to the back-end of your wordpress website
  • Hover over the “Plugins” item on your Dashboard
  • Select the “Add New” sub item
  • Select the “Upload Plugin” option and choose the “LSX team” extension file you recently downloaded
  • Select “Install Now”
  • Once the plugin is installed, select “Activate Plugin”

Settings

Configure the basic settings for your plugin:

  • Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Hover over the ‘Appearance” menu item
  • Select the “Theme Options” sub-menu item
  • Here you will see a list of submenu item
  • Select the “Teams” sub-item

Disable Single Posts – This Disables the single post viewing  (Displays a small flag in front of the name.)

Placeholder – Choose a placeholder image for your team archives

Adding a Team Member

Once you have installed the plugin, it is time to make use of the Team Members functionality. A custom post type is created automatically for your team’s extension, meaning their is a new category of pages which stores all your LSX team posts.

  • Navigate to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Hover over the “Team members” menu item on the Dashboard
  • Three options will appear in a drop down menu
  1. All Team Members – This is where you view a list of all your current team member
  2. Add New – This is where you go to create a new team member post
  3. Roles – Roles are like team member categories. They give extra information on the team members job role and link members with the same roles. (eg: Sales Manager”)
  • Select the “Add New” option
  • Configure your Team member post by adding content and configuring the fields listed below
  • When complete, select the “Preview” option to view your post
  • Publish your post when you are happy with your content

General

Title – Enter in the name of the team member

Body – Add a short bio of the team member

Excerpt – This excerpt will display if content is added in thumbnail view

Team Member Detail

Job Title – Employment position this team member holds in the company

Location – Enter in the business location of this team member

Contact Detail

There are additional fields for entering in contact details to be displayed on this team member’s page

  • Contact Email Address
  • Gravatar Email Address (Used for Gravatar if a featured image is not set)
  • Telephone Number (international format)
  • Mobile Number
  • Fax Number
  • Skype (account username)

Social Profiles

There are also custom fields for adding team members social media profiles.

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google Plus
  • LinkedIn

Sharing

Select the button labelled “Sharing” to show all social media sharing buttons on this team member’s page when viewed on the front end.

Final Touches

For the finishing touches, add a featured image for your team member, assign them a role and publish the post

Role – Just underneath the “Publish” button in the top right of the page, there is a category section called “Roles”.

  • Select a role to assign this team member if roles have already been created
  • Select “+ Add New Role” if you have not already created any role, and create a role for this team member

Featured Image – Be sure to select a featured image for your team member. This image will be displayed on the frontend when showing this team member

Adding Team Members with a Shortcode

Once you have added all your team members and configured their content, you can then add these team members via team shortcodes. These shortcodes are configured on any edit section for your pages and posts via the custom LSX Teams icon in your WordPress Editor Options.

  • Navigate to the page/post you would like to add your team members on
  • Navigate to the main WordPress content editor on the page or post
  • Select the “LSX Team Shortcode” icon from thevisual editor menu (make sure you are not editing in text mode, or this icon will not be visible
  • A popup settings modal will appear with your options for displaying your team members

Configuration Settings

Layout – Select between Standard & Panel Layout

Columns – Select the number of columns to display the team members in (max of 4)

Order By – Order your team members in the following ways

  1. Post ID
  2. Name
  3. Date Created
  4. Date Modified
  5. Random
  6. Team Member Menu (the order of your list of team members in the menu

Maximum amount – Select a maximum amount of Team Members to display (leave blank to select all

Role – Select a specific role category to only display team members from

Specify Team Members by ID – Choose a list of specific team members by specifying them by post ID

mage Size – Set the featured image display size in pixels for each team member

Show Rounded Images – Choose between square or rounded images

Link Titles – Choose whether or not to link the Team Member titles to their own individual pages

Show Roles – Select whether or not to display the assigned team roles

Show Descriptions – Select “Yes” to enable the description content of each team member to be displayed in the members field

Excerpt Length – Choose a cut-off length for the description of each team member

Show Social Icons – Choose whether or not to display social sharing icons with these team member

  • Once you have finished configuring your Team Members, select the “Insert Team Members” option
  • This will add the configured LSX Team Shortcode to your page/post
  • Select “Preview” to preview the layout of the team’s content before publishing

Adding Team Members with a Widget

  • Navigate to the backend of your website and view your Dashboard
  • Hover over the “Appearance” menu item and select “Customizer” from the drop down menu
  • Select the “Widgets” option from the Customiser menu
  • Choose the widget area you wish to place a LSX Team widget in
  • Select the “Add a Widget’ button from widget area menu
  • Type “LSX Team Members” into the search bar or scroll through the list of available widgets
  • Select the widget item and follow the same configuration settings as you would when adding a team member via a shortcode.
  • Once you have finished configuring the settings, you may move the LSX Team Members widget item between other widgets in your chosen widget section by clicking and holding the widget item, and dragging it up or down.
  • Once complete, select “Save & Publish” at the top of your WordPress Customizer Menu

Template Tag:

The team function can be called directly in your theme templates. It accepts an array of the same parameters used in the shortcode.
